Antique Beadboard Cabinet

As a long time antique lover and collector once in awhile a piece comes along that feels really special. And that’s most definitely the case with beautiful Antique Beadboard Cabinet! I found this beauty one the Facebook Marketplace and knew it was meant for our home.

Finding the Antique Beadboard Cabinet

I have a running list of specific antiques I’m keeping an eye for. I was looking for a kitchen cabinet for beside our oven (SEE OUR KITCHEN HERE!) when I came across this stepback cabinet. It’s gorgeous original condition is what caught my eye. Peep those hardware details below! We have so much beadboard throughout the house, and I love that the cabinet is an unpainted version in contrast to it. The cabinet has this beautiful warm rich finish that completely brought the room to life. But getting it here was a whole other thing! Ha!

I actually found the cabinet last Fall but the lady who had posted it was back and forth on if she really was ready to part with it. I told her to let me know if or when she was, and that I’d check back in with her at some point. About 3 weeks ago I thought of it and messaged her and she was ready to let it go. Ed and I we’re just heading to St. Charles, MO to pick it up that Saturday morning when I got her full address and realized it was in St. Charles, IL. Ooof! This meant it was 6 hours from us instead of an hour. I felt horrible, but with the animals we can’t just sporadically be gone 12 hrs. So I told her I would try and figure something else out.

Shipping the Antique Beadboard Cabinet

Then one of my buddies on Instagram filled me in on uShip! I wasn’t too sure what to expect, but it was a great experience. In case you aren’t familiar with them you create a listing on their app for whatever you need transported. You describe it, give the travel details, and a time frame. Then drivers can see the listing and give you price quotes that you can either accept or decline. The driver I had text updates the whole time. The cabinet was picked up on Friday and dropped off here the next Monday. I paid for the shipping when it was dropped off. It was easy to use and saved us an entire day of driving for what it would have cost us in gas for the truck anyway.

Antique Cabinet Storage

You probably know by know that I do love a big cabinet ha! Aside from the aesthetic, we also always need more storage in this old house! We have one closet on the main floor of the house. But I think they were on to something back then because I’d take a big beautiful cabinet over a closet 😉

I put some of my antique Ironstone, books and crocks in the top so I can leave it open to display them sometimes. I added more decor items, along with blankets, board games, and puzzles in the bottom.

Antique Beadboard Cabinet

Once I saw the dimensions of the antique beadboard cabinet I knew it was made this spot. I’m so happy with how this room is coming together! It feels so good to be spending some time furnishing and styling the rooms we’ve gotten done so far. There were times I didn’t know if I’d ever actually get to this part in this house lol! But we’re here! We made it!
