DIY Farmhouse Kitchen Renovation Reveal
Heyyy!
How have you been?! Life has felt very…full around here this past month! Lol! Can you relate? Plus I honestly put my blinders on and focused on the house. It suddenly feels like we’re really making some progress and it feels SO good! On to the DIY farmhouse kitchen renovation reveal! Yep that’s a mouthful! 😀
Farmhouse Kitchen Floors!
Ed and I installed the same reclaimed heart pine flooring in the same way we did in the living room. I’ll link the article sharing how we did it HERE! We kept it movin after the floors were done because we were READY to have a kitchen again! We are absolutely choosing to do these renovations, but that doesn’t make it less stressful when you’re in the thick of it ha! We hype each other up a lot talking about how awesome it’s going to look and how bada$$ we are lol! And lemme tell ya, we weren’t wrong! 😉
The floors add so much warmth to this room! The variation of color among them is gorgeous! I love using a variety of wood tones in furniture and decor so this flooring brings everything together. Originally I had sanded some heart pine that came from Ed’s grandparents farmhouse. We were excited to have it as part of our home, but it ended up being just slightly narrower than the rest of what we had gotten. Ed still snuck in a couple though 😉 This also meant I ended had to sand a bunch extra. Basically we raced and I sanded while he installed. A labor of love (that I’m glad I don’t have to do again lol, but it was worth it!
Victorian Farmhouse Charm
After the floors were sealed I spent a couple days doing all that final detail stuff. I installed the baseboards. We went with 1 x 8 select pine for this since it would be painted anyway. Then it was on to caulk, paint, and repeat! This room is caulk full of architectural details! The walls honestly create a really lovely texture in the room. I also love that the white with the floors. However, I can see more color making it’s way into our home eventually 😉 I finally decided on a color scheme for our whole house that I’ll be sharing soon!
You can see how I installed the beadboard walls HERE!
I’ll link the paint details HERE!
Also, finally after two years of working on it on and off, Ed bolted the newel post to the staircase in place! I cannot wait to hang garland on the railing this year!
The Reveal
And here she is in all her glory! This room is everything I hoped it would be and more! It feels right! It feels happy! I’ll be writing all about that sink soon too! Hubba hubby! Lol!
