Easy Handmade Embroidery Hoop Ornaments

Happy holidays friend!

This year I kinda made up a Christmas theme! It’s inspired by our sheep and their wool. I was thinking cozy wool, spinning wheel, farmhouse fabrics, sewing, and sweet sheep 😉 I did a poll on Instagram and I think we came up with the perfect name for it! “Homespun Holiday Homestead” or something like that lol! To go along with the holiday theme I’m sharing these darling easy handmade embroidery hoop ornaments!

Embroidery Hoops

I bought a set of twelve of these small embroidery hoops, which you can find HERE! Twelve was enough for our tree but obviously you can make as many as you like! After getting them the first thing I did was paint them with coffee to add a bit of warmth to the wood. You could also paint them or stain them.

Here’s what I used for this holiday theme! And I’ll link some more options at the bottom!

Next, you simply cut out the fabric that you’d like to place in the hoops. I used fabric remnants and samples I had on hand. Because I wanted to keep the farmhouse theme in mind I choose some ticking fabrics as well as some burlap, and linen.

I decided to leave the edges of the fabric raw and even roughed them up a bit to create more fraying. Then I added some twine to hang them on the tree. And that’s it! So so easy, but the possibilities are endless! I think these would also make wonderful gifts and would also be an awesome craft for your kiddos! You could let them decorate/personalize the fabric with fabric paint, stamp the fabric with holiday stamps, or use fun holiday themed fabric. I think it would also be fun to paint the hoops with glue and sprinkle glitter on them too! So fun, right?

Handmade Ornaments

I’m really loving the handmade ornament idea this year! I added these sheep dough ornaments I made last year too!

You can find how I made the sheep dough ornaments HERE!

I also have a collection of buttons that came in very handy for this holiday theme 😉 So I simply strung some buttons thin twine and voile, garland! Then I added a few wooly sheep ornaments we got from Target a couple years ago long before we actually had sheep! Funny right?
