IKEA EKTORP Sofa Review
Hi friend!
I’m so glad and so grateful you stopped by the blog today! It’s been a crazy couple weeks! I have lots in the works and lots of ideas swirling around! Both which are all kinds of good! But I thought I would slow things down a bit and write an IKEA EKTORP sofa review for y’all!
We’ve had our IKEA sofa for over a year now so I feel like I can give a good honest review on how this slipcovered furniture has worked for us.
Our Sofa
We purchased the EKTORP sofa with chaise from IKEA a little over a year ago. Here’s what it looked like when we got it vs what it looks like now.
Then
Now
How It’s Held Up
Not much difference! It’s held up really well. The sofa is still firm and comfy. Now granted we are just 2 people who don’t spend copious amounts of time sitting on it but I’m still impressed! Plus it’s still nice and bright and white!
The Slipcover
Speaking of it being nice and white. As far as choosing a white sofa I have NO regrets! I love that I can wash it and it comes out bright and fresh smelling! We eat and drink on it everyday and every stain has come easily been removed!
How I Wash the Slipcovers
Since we’ve had the sofa I wash the cushion slipcovers every 6-8 weeks or as needed and then every other time I also wash the actual sofa cover.
First I let my top loader fill up. I add a combination of bleach, detergent, and Oxyclean. Then I put in the slipcovers and let it soak for while. I also pretreat any spots or stains with Oxyclean ahead of time.
How I Dry the Slipcovers
After it’s soaked for awhile I let it run. Then I dry it just until it’s about 75-80% dry. This allows any wrinkles to fall out or be smoothed out on their own. Aka no ironing for me! Lol!
I think the worst part of the whole thing is putting all the slipcovers back on! It’s like wrestling an alligator! Lol! But it’s always worth it!
IKEA EKTORP Sofa Review
All in all I would definitely buy an EKTORP sofa again! And I actually have plans to do just that soon! Stay tuned! I hope this IKEA EKTORP sofa reivew was helpful! You can also check out more of our living room HERE.

I also love my Ektorp sofas! I bought our first sofa, loveseat and ottoman in our living room about 15 years or so ago, maybe more. We loved them soooo much we bought another sofa, this time for the family room, along with two chaise lounges. Then, we ended up buying another one for our morning room. I have extra slipcovers which I fortunate to find them in the discount bin, for $5.00 apiece!!

I’ve always wondered how well IKEA’s sofas would hold up. I’d be looking at one for our family room and we do use that one a lot so I’m not sure it would hold up as well as yours has but then I have a sofa in here now that cost quite a lot and as soon as we moved it to this room where it is used more, it started showing the effects. I’d just as soon pay less if nothing’s going to hold up to us!

Yes, I feel they are competitively priced for the quality. I have a friend who has 3 kiddos and has had her IKEA sofa for years. It’s squishier but the good thing is that when slipcovers get worn you can buy new for fairly cheap too.

We actually have a loveseat in our sunroom too and LOVE it! They have worked really well for us!
