Repurposing Old Windows as Home Decor
Hey there! Hope y’all are having a great summer! I cannot believe it’s almost August! One thing I’ve been into this summer, & I’m sure I’ve talked about it on here before, is simplifying. I’m finding beauty in the simplicity of things in my home. I think this really lends well to the farmhouse style in general. I’m drawn to very neutral spaces layered with simple items that create interest but don’t overwhelm you. I like a lot of texture but I’m trying to incorporate more authentic feeling elements to achieve that.
One way I’m doing that in my home is with old windows 🙂
Where to Find Old Windows
I get asked a lot where I find some of the older items we have in our home. You can sometimes find old windows at vintage or antique shops. One place I like to look for specific items these days in on the Facebook Market. That’s where I usually get the best deal & if I don’t see what I’m looking for right away you can create an ‘In Search Of’ post & more than likely someone will know someone who has what you’re looking for. However, the main & cheapest, way I have found windows is simply by word of mouth. If I pay anything it’s usually only $5 or $10 for a window. I’m sure it depends on where you live how available certain things are too. Happy hunting!

How I Refinish Old Windows
When I get my hands on the perfect window, aside from cleaning it up, I usually do a little paint touch up as well. I like things light & bright but to still leave the old chippy look.
I started uploading some of my Instagram story videos to YouTube so I could share them with you guys on here! Hope you enjoy!
On them I talk about freshening up the windows with a bit of chalk paint.
How I Use Old Windows in My Home Decor
I use old windows in different ways depending on the space I’m working with & the window itself. I like to stand windows up on top of things as well as hang them on the wall. I like to layer windows in front of each other or sometimes one is just enough. Some windows I leave as is while others I’ll hang or place something in front of them.
I simply placed this one on a bookshelf & set a crock with some hydrangeas (from Hobby Lobby) in front of it 🙂
This one is hung in our kitchen & the magnolia wreath hanging on it is from Decor Steals I highly recommend checking them out! They have some awesome products & deals! I caught the wreath on sale for $39.99 🙂 Pops of green are my favorite & I’m loving how it looks in this space!
Oh how old white chippy things make me happy! 😀 Thank you so much for stopping by my little blog! It truly means the world to me! I hope you’re finding some awesome pieces that bring beauty & happiness to your home!
