Sheep Salt Dough Ornaments
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas from the farm and I made sheep salt dough ornaments! Our first Christmas here hasn’t exactly looked or felt like I thought it would. You see our beautiful Christmas tree completely shed all of its needles about 2 weeks after having it. And yes we watered it! Apparently this is just something that happens once in awhile.
So we have no tree this Christmas morning. I also took down all the rest of our greenery after we removed the tree because WHAT A MESS! Lol! And I didn’t want to have to clean it up twice. Also our sweet old man kitty is sick and this could very well be our last Christmas with him.
But last night I was thinking how this Christmas has reminded me about what is important and why we celebrate this season and for that I am grateful.

Sheep Salt Dough Ornaments
Anyway, I made some cutie little sheep salt dough ornaments for our tree and even though I was only able to hang a handful (otherwise our tree would have been completely bare for these pics ha) I think they turned out sweet!
Salt Dough Recipe
- 1 cup table salt
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup water
- sheep cookie cutter
- straw
- string
Mix dry ingredients then add water. Roll out your dough and cut. Then I used a straw to make a hole for the string. I let mine air dry overnight on a cookie cooling rack. That’s it!
Sheep Salt Dough Ornaments
These ornaments are a perfect little farmhouse touch and they’re actually a hint at something really exciting that will be coming to Midcounty Farm this spring! 😉
I hope you’re spending today with those you love and making wonderful Christmas memories! Have the merriest Christmas friend!

Amanda…I feel bad for you, because of your “dried out” tree and greenery!…We too, have had this happen!…It was sad for us!….Your old farm house is wonderful!

It was disappointing! But I’m still glad we started the tradition and we’re hoping for better luck next year! Thank you and I hope you had a very merry Christmas!

So sorry about your tree, your ornaments are lovely. I enjoy your blog so much. You and your husband are so handy, I love to see how your new home is coming along. Have a wonderful New Year!
Kind regards, Sammy

Just catching up, Love the little sheep! Sorry about your tree, but have you done any research on pine being toxic to cats? I know that juniper is, and pretty sure I read that some varieties of pine are as well. Thought I’d pass this along. I’m so sorry about your kitty, I know that pain of loss all too well having just lost my Heart dog. If I can’t live my farmhouse dream, I’m sure glad you can!
