Timeless Holiday Tablescape

Hello friend!

I’m so glad you’re here and the holidays are here! Can you believe it?  This timeless holiday tablescape has been in my head and heart for awhile and it’s been so fun bringing it to life. As I mentioned in my holiday decor inspiration post  I wanted to go a different direction this year. For one thing I wanted to incorporate more natural greenery. Secondly, I wanted our holiday decor to feel more authentic to our home and to us. Simplicity always speaks to me, which is a big part of why I love farmhouse decor, but for our holiday tablscape I also wanted that classic or timeless factor.

Tablescape Inspiration 

It’s hard for me to think about planning a holiday table without feeling the nostalgia that inevitably comes with the holidays. Even though Ed and I don’t yet have children, and the holidays always shine a glaring light on that fact, I do love to think about the holiday traditions I hope to one day have with them.

Timeless Factors

For whatever reason a few months back I thought that I want to start collecting serving ware that we can use at the holidays or for any family dinner. And so I did. I started collecting a few pieces of ironstone serving ware and it became part of the inspiration for this tablescape.

Natural greenery, ironstone and other vintage goodies came together to create this cozy, welcoming, and timeless holiday tablscape 🙂 I hope you enjoy it!

Place Settings

For the place setting I used vintage green covered books that are big enough to accommodate the silverware, which I thought was fun 🙂 The silverware is a vintage set that Ed actually purchased years ago. The plates are all antique ironstone. We use all of our antique dishes daily and feel they were made to be used and enjoyed!

Break Bread

I made some bread from a box mix because those plates needed a little something 😉 I’ll be doing something similar when we actually eat here for the holidays because nothing says comfort like some good ‘ol carbs! Lol!

Ironstone Tureens 

Below are some close ups of a couple of the ironstone tureens. I hope to serve from these for years to come and then one day pass them down to our children and grandchildren 🙂 Some I found on Etsy and some at antique stores.

The Greenery

The fresh herb and eucalyptus garland is the one I share in my holiday decor article. It’s from pottery barn and has dried out beautifully while filling our entire home with it’s fresh scent. I love that it ties in with all our herb topiaries throughout the house but adds such a classic holiday feel.

Candlesticks 

The brass candlesticks are the same antique ones I used from our fall tablescape.  Candles always make a space feel cozy :)I love the warmth they add and that they can transition through the seasons. After all title is Timeless HOLIDAY Tablescape. Not specific to Thanksgiving or Christmas. Could be either or both!

Linen Napkins

The linen napkins I’ve had and used for our last fall tablescape as well. They’re neutral and linen is one of my favorite textiles to use. Again, purchasing something that can be used in a variety of settings is key, especially when you’re on a holiday budget 😉

The Chandelier 

One of my favorite parts of this timeless holiday tablescape hangs just above it. I added some fresh seeded eucalyptus that I got from Dierburgs. It too dried out beautifully and added a fresh greens scent and a festive feel 🙂

The Chairs

Timeless Holiday Tablescape

I’m excited for the laughter and yummy food that will be shared around this timeless holiday tablescape soon! And I’m also content in the fact that my holiday decor budget was spent on pieces that we’ll use and love long after the holidays are over.

Classy and Classic

I think that was my whole point to this article. For me, creating a welcoming home for the holidays doesn’t mean following the trend of the year. I would rather invest in classic timeless pieces my family can enjoy year after year 🙂 My grandma once told me classic never goes out of style…or was it being classy 😉 haha either way! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season gathered around the table!
